CADETS IN ASUTIFI SOUTH EMBARK ON CLEANUP EXERCISE AT HWIDIEM TO IMPROVE SANITATION

Hwidiem, June 6, 2026 – The Environmental Health Unit of the Asutifi South District Assembly, in collaboration with local cadets, organized a cleanup exercise at Hwidiem as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and improve public sanitation within the district.

The exercise focused on desilting choked drains, clearing refuse from public spaces, and maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The initiative sought to reduce the risk of flooding and the spread of sanitation-related diseases while encouraging residents to adopt responsible waste management practices.

The event was attended by the District Chief Executive, staff of the Asutifi South District Assembly, Environmental Health Officers, and members of the cadet corps, all of whom actively participated in the cleanup activities. Working together, participants cleared debris from drainage systems, swept principal streets, and collected waste from strategic locations across Hwidiem.

Addressing participants, the District Chief Executive commended the dedication and teamwork displayed during the exercise and emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment for the health and well-being of the community. Environmental Health Officers also encouraged residents to complement the Assembly’s efforts by keeping their surroundings clean and properly disposing of waste.
