The DCE of Asutifi South District, Hon. Robert Dwomoh Mensah joined farmers in the district in inauguration of their new association named THE ASUTIFI SOUTH CO-OPEERATIVE COCOA FARMERS AND MARKETING UNION LIMITED held at Dadiesoaba on Tuesday, 28TH January, 2020.
Hon.Dwomah Mensah who was the Guest Speaker at the ceremony in delivering his speech, encouraged cocoa farmers who had come together to form the association to embrace it. He emphasized that being members of the association had many benefits especially in dealing with the challenges of cocoa farmers in the district. Highlighting on the achievements of the government, he averred that interventional programs introduced by COCOBOD such as Producing for Export and Rural Development (PERD) Cocoa Pollination, Pruning, Free Cocoa Nursing and Irrigation are just but a few to promote cocoa production and livelihood of cocoa farmers. Hon DCE assured the association that the NPP government is bent on improving the cocoa sector just as the entire Agricultural Industry is a priority.
Lastly, he charged cocoa farmers to be cautious of bush burning in this dry season because of its adverse repercussions. He assured them of the support of NADMO and The Ghana National Fire Service in matters of urgency.
The Inauguration ceremony was graced by Goaso Omanhene, Nana Baffour Kwesi Bosomprah who was the Guest of Honour and Nananom across the district, political parties’ representatives, Assembly Members, Cocoa Farmers representatives from the various regions and many others.
